Pretty good!
I liked the pace. The characters were good, and the plot kept me interested through out the book.
I was a tad disappointed by the ending, because despite it being completely out-of-the-blue, it reminded me strongly of the ending of.... season 1 or 2 (I forget) of the TV show "Dexter".
I'd recommend it to a friend, and if it was lying around I'd pick it up and read it again.Pretty good!

According to the OPL, two stars means "ok". That's what I'm rating it.
I didn't cry while reading the book nor while watching the film. The only part I found as almost-tear-worthy was when Augustus was stuck at the gas station. I felt sad that he felt that way about himself.
The characters... I just felt that their romance and sadness was a bit unrealistic and it made it harder to... not relate, but at least believe it.

Sounds similar to "Under My Skin" by Charles de Lint (I think that is the author)

I am rating this book 3 stars. Normally a book like this would get a 3 1/2 or a 4 (my version of a 1-5 scale is 1=horrible, 3= mediocre, and 5=fantastic) but on this library site, they say a 3 is above average. It's good, but reminds me of Sarah Shepard's books. A bit creepy too.I am rating this book 3 stars. I had placed a hold on it in the library, then decided that it would most likely to be worth it to purchase it (with a giftcard I had lying around), and it was. Took me a couple of days to read it, but mostly because I was reading a bit at a time, like savouring a good dessert. I liked it as much as the movie, and I'm glad it was more complex and different from the movie (because there's little desire in reading a book that's the exact same as the movie (or visa versa). There is some (ok, a lot for one book in my opinion) nudity and violence, though, so I suggest mature readers only.I had placed a hold on it in the library, then decided that it would most likely to be worth it to purchase it (with a giftcard I had lying around), and it was. Love this series! I got the first three for Christmas about 5 or 6 years ago, but the eye creeped me out and stopped me from reading it right away. But ignore that, READ IT! It's so good!
And once you are DONE this series, (and please, only once you are done, otherwise it won't make sense) read Kathryn Lasky's OTHER series, "Wolves of the Beyond". It has to do with characters from this series, so please read the owl one and THEN the wolf one. :)Love this series! This might contain SPOILERS. I don't know. You might consider them spoilers, so be warned.
Very good, but as you can tell from the description, much darker than the first two books. I still suggest reading this, but the third book is creepy, and the fourth book makes me mad because it's about people who are racists. (and, people, racism is just not cool.)This might contain SPOILERS. I don't know. You might consider them spoilers, so be warned.

I own this and the other volume that holds books 3 & 4 (gotta love Costco). Jessica is kick-butt awesome, so is her friend Ruth, but less kick-butt and more just "awesome". I love her weird family (especially her mother); they sure keep things interesting. This is on my real-life book shelf of favourites, and I believe is currently in position #3 or #4.
NOTE: Books 3 and 4 are good too, but they have much darker themes and topics. They kinda creep me out, so I don't read them at night. :PI own this and the other volume that holds books 3 & 4 (gotta love Costco). Cute, light, and funny. I read this when I was 11. I wasn't a very girly reader (not super interested in princess books) so I was hesitant when my mom had gotten this book out for me, but I ended up loving it.
