I devoured this book in one sitting. Yes, it is a quick read—but it’s also a compulsively engrossing one. Each page is a dictionary entry, a definition of a single word, in alphabetical order. But the definitions are idiosyncratic…

Got to page 52-ish (co---) yesterday evening and jumped to the end to see if the book actually ever goes anywhere. To me, it felt like a bunch of words spilled on the page and haphazardly strung together like mismatched beads on a…

Levithan is an author who likes to explore the limits of traditional narrative styles. This book tells a love story in a nonlinear dictionary format. The words and definitions paint a picture of a relationship and all its ups and downs,…

In my opinion, this was exceptionally well-written. You can easily read this book within an hour and even though each entry may only be a few sentences, Levithan knows how to pack a punch within each one. Beautiful. A very creative and…

I really enjoyed this book! It's definitely a different type of read but I found it worth it! Would recommend it!

This book is more likely written in a dictionary format. There's a word and a little bit of story about the character's life. If you like a story that have different characters in it, have a plot with a real story and written in…

There wasn't much of a plot (well, I could sense one sort of, but it's the sort where you have to piece it together), but it was still a good book to pass the time with. And yes, the ending was a bit abrupt.

Amazingly written. I did not know you could write a beautiful story out of order like that. Inspired me so much, I have got to get my own copy!

Loved this book! It was a quick read but I could really relate to the story. Also, Levithan put feelings I've had into words. I loved this book so much that I'm going to buy a copy of my own and look into other works by the author.

I always enjoy the way David Levithan presents different facets of a story and leaves it to the reader to piece them together. A sweetly sad, poignant read.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. While at times it had me laughing out loud, it was also a poignant look at pain and betrayal. The format, a dictionary of terms related to love defined by episodes in a specific relationship, was…

David Levithan's format of using dictionary phrases was a fresh way to intrigue readers. I loved looking up new words and then pondering about how the words related to the story line. While the lack of names, dates, and chronology was a…

It is wonderful to see something different in terms of format, along with the quality writing that David Levithan conveys is just a fantastic combination. The uncertainties of modern love is executed in such a heartfelt way that you can't…

A totally heartfelt book by David Levithan. The format of the novel was unique, to say the least, and a nice change from the normal format. As one of my favorite writers, Levithan does not disappoint in this book.

Odd that one of the subject headings is "Man-woman relationships," when it's totally ambiguous whether the narrator is addressing a male or female lover. In any case, this is a lovely gem of a book that somehow conveys huge universals in…

10 on a 1 - 10 scale for quality of writing, novelty of format, story appeal. Only drawback is that it leaves you wanting more, but that's also part of the appeal :o) Very quick read, but worthy of slowing down and savoring. Delightful.
