The story line of this one didn't grab me as much as the previous ones, I like more archaeology and mythology. But still enjoyed it.

Another wonderful book, and the addition of an interesting new character. I enjoyed this one, but it’s unusually sad when the truth of the old bones is finally revealed. As always, read these books in order - it’s important to understand…

No. 6 in the Dr. Ruth Galloway series, this book is terrific. Although still there, there is less archeological intrigue and greater personal depth, especially with the peripheral characters.

every time i start a new ruth galloway it takes me a while to get used to the narration style (3rd person omniscient?). the 'who' and 'why' was secondary to the character arcs. i found myself looking up mother hook to see if she was a real…

There is always so many interesting things going on in Dr Galloway’s life and this novel carries on admirably.

This mystery was one of my favorites of the Ruth Galloway series. When Ruth unearths the remains of a woman who was executed for the murder of children in her care, she and an historian begin research that may exonerate her. Meanwhile…

Griffiths has finally drop the cold, distant tone of earlier books in this series and is really showing us the characters. the characters are less stiff, more developed, and are much more interesting. The relationships, as if they were not…

Excellent Ruth Galloway novel. Ruth unearths the body of a woman hanged for a child murder, while in present day a child is abducted.

Another excellent installment in this mystery series featuring Ruth Galloway, Forensic archeologist. The action heats up when Ruth uncovers the skeleton of infamous Victorian child killer, Mother Hook. But was the woman as guilty as she…

A very tame mystery novel that has enough storylines with babies to set off maternal instincts more than all of the Subaru commercials put together. As such, it will likely appeal more to women than men. The novel tries to develop the…

This book bored me, which is not what you want from a mystery novel. In my opinion, it spent too much time on the personal lives of the characters and not enough on the plot. I didn't really enjoy the writing style either - the author…

Who doesn't like a detective-archeologist mystery? Educational AND murder. This is well written, nothing "cute", but not too hard-boiled. I will look for others in the series.

I know women like Ruth Galloway. She is someone I would like to personally know: somewhat eccentric, curmudgeonly, confident, a bit shy. Read the books in this series in order as the stories definitely build from book to book, and the…

This book is of the best of this series so far. There is a little more actual forensic anthropology than in the last book and there are the usual parallel mysteries; one from the current day and one from the past. It's a cracking good…
