An odd little book to teach colors. The closest I can come to liking it is by thinking of it as a 1970s horror movie trailer as I read it out loud in a deep, ominous voice.

Great crisp minimalistic book. Worked well as a short vivid book that kept my toddler's interest and entertained both a baby and older child.

A very minimalistic type of children's book that really attracts attention with it's bold colours! Great for learning colours and counting for a child that loves trains!

This book is an excellent example of the 6 by 6 skill "Talk, talk, talk." Kids hear more new words when you read books – about three times more than in normal conversation. When you come to words your child isn’t familiar with, don’t…

Great for introducing books to infants and toddlers. I don't know why infants like knowing what a tender or box car is, but some do. Drawing are simple, plot is great (i.e. it barely exists and is physical, you see the train, and it goes).…

This is a great story to share with little ones just learning their colors. The pictures are perfect for young children to be able to identify.

This book was a little more simple than I had anticipated with the award announced on the front, however my boys enjoyed it much more than I would have expected and both my 2 year old and 4 year old went back to it to look through…

I sometimes wonder what the Caldecott criteria is for giving out book medals. This book had so much promise but I didn't feel it delivered. The concept was awesome. It teaches about the names of different train cars. It teaches color. …

Simple, simple text and pictures. It didn't do much for me but a four year old boy would go nuts for this book.

My 2YO loves this one. The colors are great, and he likes turning each page and naming the cars. This is a great one for toddlers!

This book is good for both infants and toddlers. When they are young they will enjoy the bright colors and simple modernistic train representations. When they are older, becuase it is a sparse book---it will help them undersand motion and…

If your child likes trains this book is perfect for a young toddler. Bare any words. But the images come across strongly. I give it a "B"
