An oldie, but a goodie.

Great role for Cary Grant, and for Loretta Young. Beautiful film about how the right affair of the right style and length can freshen up a stale marriage. Lots of subtext in this one, with implications for how the wives survived the war…

I remembered seeing this movie previously and enjoying it, but I now find it difficult to be in sympathy with the characters.

For those who need a nice quiet viewing on the couch. Pleasing camera work.

I knew there was a reason why I'd put off seeing this for so long. I was really disappointed in how slow and-dare I say-boring it was. I love Cary Grant and he and the other cast were great, but I wish it had been a lot better.

The below review right much nails it. So David Niven is the bishop, Loretta Young is his wife, and Cary Grant is an angel who is totally hitting on Young, even though he's supposed to be helping Niven. It should've been called "The Amorous…

AN ANGEL comes to help out a bishop, but spends most of his time trying to put the moves on the guy’s wife.

Should be included in everyone’s must-watch movies for Christmas / December .

Fun, sometimes touching Christmas picture offers a great cast of character actors, with Monty Woolley exceptional. Everyone seems to always love this one for Cary Grant, but after a number of viewings over the years, I feel it's really…

Definitely worth the entertainment time. This is a truly classic movie. Cary Grant does an exquisite job in his role as the angel. David Nivens and Loretta Young play well on each other and the sparks between Loretta and Cary cannot be…

Fabulous and charming movie. They don't make movies like this anymore. Cary Grant is fantastic as the angel.

Old-fashioned movie with an angel taking on the task of marital counselling, along with choosing what matters.

We no longer consider ourselves Christians. We watched this whole movie with pleasure, though. It is nice. Made in 1947, when we were children, the script isn't as dumb as it seems in places. It has good values. However, if the acting…

I watch this movie every Christmas. A lovely movie about struggling with faith, prayers being answered differently than we expect, and finding joy in the true meaning of Christmas. I always enjoy watching Cary Grant and David Nivens.

Classic. Right up there with Frank Capra’s ‘’It’s A Wonderful Life.‘’ A must for the holiday season.

Very dated. I could not finish it. Role of the obedient, trusting wife and suspicious husband obscured the message.

An angel answers a bishop's prayer for guidance, just prior to Christmas. This black-and-white movie is a little slow, but it's worth seeing at least once. It is a light and gentle comedy. Cary Grant made every film he was in better. The…

A nice little classic Christmas movie. It has its dated moments, but largely stands the test of time. As for classic Christmas films, I liked this better than Miracle on 34th Street, but not nearly as much as It's a Wonderful Life (though…

A cloying bit of fluffiness drenched in yuletide cheeriness but ultimately saved by a trio of fine performances and Gregg Toland's beautiful B&W cinematography which cashes in on snowy stage sets and cozy fireplaces. As an added bonus the…

This is a 1947 romantic comedy directed by Henry Koster, based on the 1928 novel of the same name by Robert Nathan. It is a story about an angel who helps a bishop with his problems---one of the most heart-warming Xmas stories.

An entertaining film with really top notch acting by Grant, Niven, Loretta Young, even Monty Woolley's cameo appearance was most succinct. Inspirational as well. If you enjoyed this, and have never seen the original "Here Comes Mr.…

A warm, feel-good film, capturing some wonderfully innocent and beautiful pastimes. How can you not get nostalgic watching children of the '40s transfixed on a Christmas window display? Dudley's (Grant's) message was simple, yet one that's…
