I recommend this book because it portrays the animal life that comes to life at night and how all living things have a place with a purpose. I love the illustrations in this book because shows a world beyond our imagination merging the poems with each of the illustration. The animals are giving a unique personality by the author and that brings the ecosystem of this fauna to be appreciated in great detail. The poems are wonderful and encourage the reader to submerge in this dark, mysterious life.

This is a great book that should be read by all children, especially those who love nature. This book is very educational and engaging I love the illustrations and the way they enhance the story. The vivid images brought to life the unknown world of the night and the creatures of the night. The book talks about what certain night life do and how they survive. This book has a great poetic experience that has a clear and concise sense of each animal of the night. This book has very descriptive and factual information and I recommend it to all children and parents.

“Dark Emperor & Other Poems of the Night” is a children’s poetry book. This picture book is full of beautiful pictures filled with even lovelier poems. These poems are about different animals and nature. On the other side of the poems there is a section that explains the nature of the poem that was presented beforehand. It give you different background information and I feel it helps you better understand the poem. When I become a teacher I look forward to introducing poetry to my students and making it realistic like this book. I recommend this book for teachers and parents to read to their children. This will help kids learn to appreciate poetry at an earlier age.

I recommend this book for reading because it gives factual information on the animal being observed. The illustrations are very detailed and interesting. They caught my eye more than the text did. When I first read the title it took me for a loop because it made it seem like a heroic type of book or something with some adventure in it. If you are an animal lover then this book will defiently be one that attracts you because it is about nature during the night. The setting of the book is in a forest and character development is significance to the role they play in the night life and how they survive. The story is told in third person.

“Come and Feel the Cool and shadowed breeze”

"To all of you who crawl and creep, who buzz and chirp and hoot and peep, who wake at dusk and throw off sleep: Welcome to the night."

"As the sun sets the woods awaken. And the creatures of the night begin to stir."

Then...upside flip, lock-on grip...stretch, hang, relax. Yawn... dawn.
