Excellent story, both personally and tactically. I've read quite a few special forces biographies--Lone Survivor and Fearless are probably the best, but more for what Marcus Luttrell and Adam Brown went through and achieved at a pesonal level. This book gives some of the very best "ground level" accounts of the action in Iraq, and underscores the tension between personal and family sacrifices and the military brotherhood that our soldiers face, especially those in elite roles. Very worth reading. Hearbroken over the tragic way Kyle lost his life after retiring, trying to help a another ex-soldier find his way out of post-war trauma.

This autobiography was a great account of a sniper whose talent and bravery led to his nicknames "The Legend", "the Devil of Ramadi", and "the devil". RIP Chris Kyle, SEAL Team 3 Chief of the U.S. Navy SEALs.

This book was ok...not the best one I've ever read but I liked it ok. It's kindof depressing that I read it the same week he gets shot in Texas. The book called Fearless was written much better.

Not nearly as good as Marcus Luttrel's Lone Survivor. I agree, the wife's input added little. The book seemed disjointed. It's like a collection of random 2-3 paragraph thoughts strung together.

I understand and accept there can be need for military intervention and for the use special forces, weaponry and individuas such as author Chris Kyle. But I found his book poorly written and jingoistc. The author seems to see himself as a "Christian crusader" who sole purpose (and apparent joy) in life is to kill (as he puts it) "savages.". Some interesting reading on the recruitment and training of SEALs. But once Kyle is deployed to Iraq, his story becomes uninformative and tedious. He offers the reader no on-the-ground insight into the conflict or to his role. A superior book on first-hand experiences in special forces operations in the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts is Wearing the Green Beret" by Canadian Jeffery Olafsen.

Not overly well written, but an excellent story. It's a real eye-opener. I'd recommend it to anyone who has an interest in military events/history

I have enjoyed a lot of non-fiction and this is possibly the best military biography I have ever read.

Awesome book. Could've done without the excerpts from the authors wife. I didn't think it really added anything to the story. Other than that, it's nice to read about guys like this. Like it or not, we need em.
