It's a slow book to get into I suppose because it's the first book in the trilogy but there are a few moving scenes in it.

As an E.S. Librarian, I thoroughly enjoyed this book as well as it's previous volume and it's concluding volume. It took me a few pages to get "into" the story, but once I did, I finished the book in one sitting. I would highly recommend this to all young readers, Grade 6+, especially the girls. The level of suspense and conflict may even appeal to young males.

It was overall a decent read. the other two werent as good and just had a lot of filler. I read them them to see who she chose in the end but not an overly amazing book.

I wouldn't even recommend this book to my enemies. I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but LOOK at her; she's smelling her armpit.

Best. Book. Ever!!! I am totally rooting for Maxon. I H-A-T-E Aspen. I hope he dies in a hole from self pity. The whole story about Brenna tripping over is a whole bunch of baloney. America could do a whole lot better with Maxon. When I read the last book, and she ends up with Aspen, I will literally hurl the book across the room. If she ends up with Maxon, I will totally party!

People mostly compare this to the Bachelor. In most ways, they're right. A certain number of girls get picked and it narrows down to one. But I can honestly say that this book is 600 times better than the Bachelor. I don't even like the Bachelor but loved this book!

'Gavril laughed. "She sounds like a feisty one herself." "I get a lot of my stubborness from her." "So you're stubborn, then? have a bit of a temper?" I saw Maxon covering his mouth with his hands, laughing. "Sometimes." "If you have a temper, would you happen to be the one who yelled at our prince?" I sighed. "Yes, it was me. And right now, my mother is having a heart attack." "Make her tell the whole story," Maxon managed to gasp out. "Oh!" Gavril's head swiveled between me and Maxon, "The whole story?" I glared at Maxon before I started. "Well, it was the first day, and I felt sick. I was trying to get outside, and I was practically fainting in the guard's arms when Maxon came by and let me out. Outside, I didn't feel very good, so I ended up accusing him of being selfish and shallow." I heard the Queen and King laugh, and I thought that maybe, just maybe, they saw me as more than just a stranger.'

"And why am I still here?" My voice was barely above a whisper. I was sure this was going to hurt. In the pit of my stomach I was sure I was only still here because he was too good to break his promise.
"America, I thought I'd made myself clear," Maxon said calmly. He let out a patient sigh and used his hand to nudge by chin. When I was finally looking into his eyes, he confessed.
"If this were a simpler matter, I'd have eliminated everyone else by now. I know how I feel about you. Maybe it's impulsive of me to think I could be so sure, but I'm certain I would be happy with you."
I blushed. I could feel tears rising, but I blinked them away. The expression on his face was so adoring, I didn't want to miss it.
"These are the moment when I feel like you and I have broken down every last wall, and then others when I think you only want to stay for convenience. If I knew that for sure that I, and I alone, was your motivation..."

“Do you think the ability to sleep in
counts as a special skill?” I asked Dad, trying to sound torn over the decision.
“Yes, list that. And don’t forget to write that you can eat an entire meal in under five minutes,” he replied. I laughed. It was true; I did tend to inhale my food.
“Oh, the both of you! Why don’t you just
write down that you’re an absolute heathen!” My mother went storming from the room.
