This was an enjoyable read. The only drawback I have is that Green didn't write the daughter's point of view that well-it just wasn't that believable.

Another great book by Jane Green. Pretty moving. What could be common story becomes much deeper by hearing it from the different angles of three women.

I struggled to engage with the matter-of-fact narrative style up to page 50 and decided that I didn't want to witness several hundred pages of bitterness and family drama so I skipped to the epilogue. Kudos to the author for tackling a pervasive family issue (step-parenting and the toll that alcoholism exacts upon families) but her style of telling (rather than showing or describing) how a character feels doesn't resonate with me.

Very good story, real life of the struggles some familys go through. I could relate to the step children.

I didn't love or hate it. I found all the characters annoying, but it does tie up nicely.

In her latest novel, author Jane Green explores in true-to-life detail the tightrope that is often walked between step-parents and their new step-children. Thirty seven year old Andi falls head over heels for Ethan, a divorce father with two daughters. Sophia, the eight-year-old instantly bonds with Andi, leaping into her arms and welcoming her to the family. Emily, the thirteen-year-old, has other ideas. To her, Andi is a threat to the bond that she shares with her father, and in Emily’s eyes there can be only one person who can be daddy’s girl. Three years of bitter resentment pass between Andi and Emily until an unforeseen event forces all of the family members together, including Brooke, the alcoholic ex-wife struggling to become sober. It is a roller-coaster of emotions for all, including the reader. Reviewed by DH

This was a very powerful novel. It explores the complications of a woman marrying into a ready made family, and the true meaning of motherhood. Andi found the love of her life at the age of thirty-seven. He already has 2 kids, Sophia 8, and Emily 12. Sophia adores Andi, but Emily despises Andi. Emily will do whatever it takes to get rid of Andi. This will threaten everything Andi believes about love, family, and motherhood. READ the book to find out MORE!!
