Quotes
Add a QuotePeeta:" I keep wishing that I could think of a way......to show the Capitol that they don't own me. That I'm more than just a piece in their Games." Katniss:" I just can't afford to think like that."
Peeta to Katniss: “Only I keep wishing I could think of a way...to show the Capitol they don't own me. That I'm more than just a piece in their Games.”
Katniss: “And while I was talking, the idea of actually losing Peeta hit me again and I realized how much I don't want him to die. And it's not about the sponsors. And it's not about what will happen when we get home. And it's not just that I don't want to be alone. It's him. I do not want to lose the boy with the bread.”
Peeta Mellark: "...You're supposed to tell us how to get sponsors and give us advice." Haymitch Abernathy: "Oh. Okay. Ummm... Embrace the probability of your imminent death... and know, in your heart, that there's nothing I can do to save you." Katniss Everdeen: "So why are you here, then?" Haymitch Abernathy (holds up a glass of whiskey): "The refreshments."

Comment
Add a CommentIt was ok. It wasn't as good as the book, and not as good as I thought it would be.
the hunger games is a great movie for people that are to hungry to see people that are hungry on screen
I don't know how to rate this movie ... the production itself is very good for a deeply disturbing and cynical story
I absolutely Love this movie
The Hunger Games ---- (DVD - 2012) ---- The Ability of the young perfprmers is great ...... BUT! ...... As I watched, I could only think of: Today's Child and Teen Violence. ---- ---- ---- What a Stupid action for movie makers to put upon: Our World! ---- That of planting this seed in young minds. ---- ---- No JOY! ---- RichardPaul(finished 4-26-13)
@Monolith--Considering how "girls mature faster than boys", I'd say 12-year-old girl vs. 18-year-old guy is a pretty even match.
I always find that books are more enjoyable than the movie versions of them, but then books don't have a time frame, they can be as long or short as the writer requires to tell the story exactly how they like it. In saying this, I was pleasantly surprised with the movie, it took the main plot points and formed an almost as equally enjoyable experience with them as the book had formed in my mind.
Better than expected and high praise for a film that places women literally on an equal playing field with men.
For what it is, I think this movie is great. I should mention I haven't read the book, so I'm rating the movie solely on it's own merit. The plot is interesting and disturbing and I found myself glued to the screen throughout. It's not a very deep film and doesn't pretend to be either. Still, one death scene really wrenched at my heart. I will say the last few minutes seemed to wrap up too quickly as though they ran out of ideas... but if its in the book...
Amazing movie! It is a little different from the book which was also FANTASTIC but taken by itself, I must say that it was great! Jennifer Lawrence is awesome as Katniss and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta...well, what can I say!? Love him!!! :D
