Add a CommentA very good read! Holly Black does an extremely good job of describing a very dark, twisted world of faery.
I have to admit this book takes a little while to get to the good stuff. But when it gets good, it really gets good, so stick with it! I liked Kaye as a heroine though her nasty habit of sucking on a cancer stick in nearly every scene at the beginning of the book got a little old. Her romance with the faerie Roiben (pronounced Robin), was very sweet and Roiben himself was a dutiful, brave and sexy hero; one of my favourites in teen literature. The writing style itself was unique and very rich in detail and descriptions which really enhanced the wonderful dark faerie world that Ms. Black has created.
I really, really enjoyed the Curse Workers so picked this up. I didn't like it as well, but still found it a great take on the urban fantasy + faeries theme.
i really really loved this book!!!!its so creepy, twisted, gritty book!!! you must at least try it,its sooooooo good!!! if you do read it and you like it you should also read some books by dona jo napoli.she writes twisted fairy tales.
please read this book!!!!! IT IS THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!! I RECOMEND THIS TO MATURE 12/13 YEAR OLDS OR 14 AND UP. A MUST READ!!!!!!!!
Tithe is that one kid in the back of the class-room that tries way too hard to be edgy. Throwing out curse words for no other reason then to seem like a bad girl/boy. I wasn't impressed.
Although this book didn't draw me in quickly, once I read a couple chapters it became more interesting and I was pulled in by the dynamic characters. I recommend it to people who like fey books and/or fantasies. Most likely girls as well.
Great book to read! If you like fantasy and faeries then you'll like this book.
This is a great book, I couldn't put it down. Who would say it's good for ages sixteen and older? I don't know if they remember being thirteen or fourteen, but I'm certain they could handle it, because I can't imagine a fourteen-year-old who can't handle it.
I applaud you Holly Black. Great start, can't wait to read the rest of the series!
