This book has become a classic in our home. I've now read it to Kindergarten classes up to grade 2, and get laughs every time. Unpredictable and funny...read it to your kids, please!
What a refreshingly original book!
When the story starts, a pie making Princess is being held captive by her stepfather the King. Every day she makes pies in her tower and waits for a Prince to rescue her. Alas, none can make the grade. But as the pages turn, the reader learns the name of the painter behind the scenes, Ned. Poor Ned cannot keep up! With every page he falls farther behind, forcing him to improvise with fishes instead of horses, tutus instead of armor. Finally the Prince that does arrive learns to live with the shortages that plague the story. And how he slays the evil pretzel and what happens to the Princess is something you will have to turn the pages to find out!
