I've already read two books by Susane Colasanti, Take me there and When it happens- both of which I adored but there was something about this book I didn't like. Maybe it was just the whole, falling in love with your best friend's boyfriend theme. I mean can some one actually do that? It's like an unwritten rule, and even so I would feel so guilty. That is what the character Lani, is going through this book. I however, think she dealt with it really well. I liked how she handled the situation, did feelings get hurt? Most defiantly. But that was unavoidable, it tends to happen when you fall in love with your best friend's boyfriend. It's how we deal with the situation afterwards that matters. This book had alot to do about fate, as the title suggests. I really liked Lani's perspective on fate and how she thinks that everyone's future is already laid out for them. That's why when she falls in love with Jason, she knows it is fate, she doesn't want to love him, she just does. I also really liked the characters in this book, Blake for example, a best friend of Lani was so funny. His scenes always relived the reader of the constant tension that was going on. I also enjoyed how Lani and her best friend Erin were complete opposites, it was fun to see the contrasts in their personality and I wondered how they could fall for the same guy. And then there is Jason, the boy Lani and Erin both love. I don't know, I hear people always rave about how he's so amazing, but I just couldn't like him. Again, this is probably the whole he ditched his current girlfriend for her best friend thing, but I also felt like he didn't care about Erin's feelings as much as Lani did, he wasn't as careful and that is what annoyed me the most.I enjoy Susane Colasanti's books, I really do but for some reason I prefer Sarah Dessen's books instead. Overall, this was a really fast read filled with love, fate and friends.

I agree @Kewashere211, she should just keep on dating Jason! They started Lani and Jason started going out after Erin and Jason broke up. Why is erin making such a big deal over this? Lani is a good friend!

This book is really good, even though I got frustrated everytime she brought up hurting Erin's feelings. I usually just tell my friend if I like their boyfriend at least before they're together. That way they know and if they date them than you have a reason to be mad, but it is a free country. Anyways, at least her friend understood it in the end I think, but this book was well constructed and I can't get enough of it.

The book was very good i do have to agree though i had trouble relating to Lani's and the Golden Circle people, i mean who talks about recycling and such ( don't they - Lani - get made fun of because they are such "losers" or "geeks") That's the only problem i had with this book and her worring that she hurt Erin -- That was so fustrating to read but it was pretty good overall.

the book was very good although there might be like a disturbance just looking at the cover. basically boyfriend and best friend fall for each other and they later face the consequences.

Such a awesome book. I got so attached to the Lani that during the end I was actually crying for her, and when she would do something stupid I couldn't stand read that part (but I did). Please read. If you like this book you should read Pure by Terra Elan McVoy.

Okay, so I completely LOVED this book! Except for the fact that Lani starts freaking out about what Erin would think when she and Jason dropped the bomb about their relationship. She's a big girl; she can just move on! So Erin dated him. BIG DEAL! Erin shouldn't just go on a psycho rampage and try to ruin Lani's social life. But the ending was great and just magical.

This is one of my favorite books I have ever read. I didnt think I would like it too much because I thought that it was a Sarah Dessen knock-off, but totally not true. I love this book!
If you like this try Sarah Dessen

I really liked this book. I found that Susane Colasanti did a very good job writing from a teenager's point of view. Even the slang was right! XD

The back:
What if your soul mate is....your best friend's boyfriend?
Lani and Erin are lifelong best friends--and total opposites. Lani's a down-to-earth Taurus; Erin's a fiery Leo. Lani likes to do her own thing; Erin prefers an entourage. They've always have wildly different tastes, from pizza toppings to guys.
That is, until Erin starts dating Jason.
From the minute Lani meets Jason, she can't deny the amazing connection she feels with him. It's like they've known each other their whole lives. She's not sure if he feels it too--but even if he does, he's off-limits. Lani's determined to ignore her feelings for Jason, no matter how powerful they are, rather than hurt her best friend.
Then Erin goes away for the summer--and Jason seems to appear everywhere Lani turns. How long can she keep running from the guy who just might be the love of her life?

I don't know where it comes from. But Jason and I have this connection that's stronger than anything I've ever felt before. We have this way together where everything clicks. It's so easy to be with him. And when I'm not with him, I can't wait to see him again. He feels like home to me. The question is, can you just be friends with a soul mate when you want to be so much more?
