I wanted to read this since I liked Hilary Duff as an actress. You know give her a chance as a writer. And boy am I glad I did. So good. Already got the next one on hold.

When I finally forgot about who I was reading, I really got into the book. The characters were a little marysue-ish, but enjoyable nonetheless. The plot was fun and fulfilling. I was a little bit disappointed by the end, but might change my mind on it, depending on the next book.

This book is pretty decent.
I mean it was awesome.
It was sort of like the Immortal series- but the immortal series just- ugh horrible!
I liked it alot.
I dont blame anyone for having an heart attack after finding out Hilary Duff wrote a book O.o
A bigger heart attack would be if Kristen Stewart wrote one..

This was a suspensful book, and there was always action. The end was such a cliff-hanger, is there a sequel?

This story is about a girl named Clea Raymond who is a photojournalist and the daughter of two very high profile parents. Her father goes missing and she starts seeing this shadowy figure in all the photos she takes. She sees that he’s a handsome young man named Sage and when they finally meet there’s an immediate connection; emotional and physical. Her best friend Ben is with them the whole time and they try to figure out what happened to her father. She also learns that they are destined to be together because they both have past lives. She begins having flash backs of all of hers. I really loved this book because there’s a lot of romance along with mystery and suspense. For me, it’s sort of hard to choose between Sage and Ben because I like them both. They both have strong feelings for Clea but Sage’s are stronger because he is destined to be hers. Her other best friend also tags along with them at one point. Her mom isn’t in on what they’re doing but she trusts Clea because Ben is with her. I like reading about Clea’s flash backs. They’re so interesting. I like the characters because they’re smart, close to each other and sometimes they sort of know what the other is thinking. I got some laughs while reading and I like that. Each chapter kept me on the edge of my seat. It was very well written and I’m very much looking forward to reading the sequel.

Wasn't a completely stellar literary masterpiece, but I still quite enjoyed it. It has similar concepts to the Fallen series and Blue Bloods series and I can see this possibly catching on in the way that they both have. I will definitely be reading the second book, Devoted.

I absolutely adore Hilary Duff. This being her first book, I thought it was ok. I found a few errors & the love triangle could've been more intense. I agree with KKPGIRL; I felt like Clea HAD to love Sage. I have to admit, though, the idea was interesting. I've never read any books about the Elixir of life, and I thought it was interesting, so I read it. That & because it was written by Hilary Duff. Overall, this book was ok. It didn't make my "Favourites list", but it was still a great read. Congratulations to Hilary Duff on her first book. I would recommend this book to young pre-teens

Conaidering this was Hilary Duff's first book, and she's not a professional writer, it turned out well. I found the whole "soulmates reincarnated" thing very unoriginal and kind of boring. The characters weren't very deep or relatable. I agree with BookFaerie27 that Sage wasn't as swoon worthy as the hot guy character that the female lead character falls in love with SHOULD be. I just didn't like Sage that much, and didn't understand his and Clea's soulmate connection. I kinda felt like Clea felt like she HAD to love Sage. By the end of any good book, I feel emotionally connected to the characters and their story, but I didn't feel like that at the end of this book. The ending was also a total cliff-hanger, but that was probably on purpose to make you read the second book. Overall, I would recommend this book for younger teens/preteens, or for those of you who just want to see if Hilary Duff's book is actually good or not. If you're looking for an emotional love story to become obsessed with, I'd recommend the Hush Hush series by Becca Fitzpatrick.

i found this book to be surprisingly enjoyable and although the story was a bit typical, it had its own perks to make it a really great read. I think that any doubts I had of Hilary Duff writing a book have dissipated, now that I've read this, its a great story but its not entirely unattainable to anyone. I really respect Hilary Duff, I think she's down-to-earth, and her book is very representative of her.
Looking forward to the next in the series :)

I was pleasantly surprised to find Hilary Duff to be a great writer. The book has a great plot line. The story basically follows Clea who is the reincarnated soulmate of Sage. Sage is an immortal, who always ends up losing Clea. The story follows the legend of the "Elixir of life". Fans of The Fallen series by Lauren Kate or the Evermore series by Alyson Noel will love this novel!

Mom and Wanda were pregnant at the exact same time...Since George was at work, Dad ended up driving both women to the hospital. They clutched each other in the backseat--two huge-bellied, panting, moaning women, both of them freaking out about the work they were missing. Dad sped all the way to the hospital, sure he'd get pulled over and arrested for being a suspected polygamist with a taste for overachievers.
