Two maverick neuroscientists use the world's largest psychology experiment--the Internet--to study the private activities of millions of men and women around the world, unveiling a revolutionary and shocking new vision of human desire that overturns conventional thinking. For his groundbreaking sexual research, Alfred Kinsey and his team interviewed 18,000 people, relying on them to honestly report their most intimate experiences. Using the Internet, the neuroscientists Ogas and Gaddam quietly observed the raw sexual behaviors of half a billion people. By combining their observations with neuroscience and animal research, these two young neuroscientists finally answer the long-disputed question: what do people really like? Ogas and Gaddam's findings are transforming the way scientists and therapists think about sexual desire. Their fascinating and occasionally disturbing findings will rock our modern understanding of sexuality, just as Kinsey's reports did sixty years ago.--From publisher description.

Scientists went big data on the internet to bypass the subtle, but disproportionate WEIRD bias (Western, Educated, Industrialist, Rich & Demographic) in research papers. Number crunched web sites, search engine results & metadata
Condensed dispassionate ,but entertaining book with notes & bibliography not for kids with blunt graphic top ten popular search terms for straight, bisexual, to same sex or why each wired differently.
They confirmed la-la land Harlequin books contained no male in blue collar workers, bureaucrats or traditionally female jobs.
Probably first book I read the notes to answer frivolous questions from porn stars fake orgasms, who have lowest to highest BMI, why male stars don't use Viagra & to the stats on blunt questions asked by popular dating website.

Well, just judging by this book's title "A Billion Wicked Thoughts", it sure seems to me that its authors clearly equate wicked thinking with that of one's sexual desires. And, when it comes to both men and women, it certainly appears as though wicked/sexual thoughts are prone to emerge by the billions. (Now, does that come as any sort of surprise to anyone?)

And, speaking about being surprised - Is it any wonder at all to find out that all of these billions of wicked thoughts have all found themselves a perfect home on the internet where, apparently, 2.5 million adult websites actually exist in this enlightening day and age of ours?

And, regardless of whether you males happen to be total Elmer Fudds and you women, absolute Miss Marples, you are about 10x more likely to fork out $50 to pay for porn or pay for romance, than you are to indulge in a full-course meal at a reputable restaurant.

Anyway - The one thing that really killed me the most about the info in this book was how its diligent authors (due to the obvious repetitiveness of most wicked thoughts) were actually able to condense the sheer magnitude of a billion thoughts of internet wickedness into just 240 pages of text.

I enjoyed this book - I think it better helped me understand what online porn is about and the audience it targets. One reviewer said the book used "already discredited evolutionary" stereotypes, but I have come across the same ideas in multiple sources of information. If you read with the idea that the authors are extrapolating data in order to make some generalizations about human sexual behavior, this is an intriguing read.

A terrible, simplistic book. The entire premise is based on discredited evolutionary psychology, backed by shallow studies of pornography consumption. The authors spend more time on the mating habits of spiders than discussing lesbian sexuality. There are also some sexist and homophobic comments scattered through the book.

A great book on human sexuality. If you've wondered about why there is so much conflict and misunderstanding between men and women when it comes to dating and sex this is the book for you.

An interesting book to read. A generalization of Male and Female sexual desires. I did not find the material shocking, however some might.
