Although I have quibbles with the Library Journal review of this title, I think Shawn Green is a really admirable character who had some big shoes to filll. As a slugger he was compared with the legendary star Hank Greenberg (who in 1938 hit 58 home runs in a season). As a youth Green was very influenced by "Zen and Art of Motorcycle Maintanence" by Pirsig and that tone pervails in his book. There is a kind of Zen mystique to this baseball title. It is an enjoyable read.
