If you're a reader who insists on great writing, you might want to skip this one. Frankly, some of the prose is so mediocre that I almost quite on the book -- and I'm a pretty dedicated Who fan.

If you're a reader who insists on great writing, you might want to skip this one. Frankly, some of the prose is so mediocre that I almost quite on the book -- and I'm a pretty dedicated Who fan.

I did finish the book, though, and I'm glad I did if only for the sake of the information here. Some of it I knew, but the story of how the band struggled to follow up their "Tommy" album has many facets, and author Richie Unterberger is good at presenting all the angles.
