Stanislas Graff, a powerful industrialist, is kidnapped one morning from in front of his building by a group of gangsters. So begins a nightmare where he's humiliated, abused, and treated inhumanely. Although he resists, allowing his kidnappers no hold over him, he accepts everything without rebelling or any kind of cry or complaint; he responds with dignity to barbarity. Outside, his world slowly collapses when his true nature is revealed.

Enjoyed this little French crime drama / thriller. Although, I was not pleased with the ending after investing two hours into the film I felt it left just a bit too much to discussion.
Worth the watch.

A brilliantly told story that held my attention from beginning to end. But ...a good friend called and I had to put it on PAUSE. "Are you not well, George?" he asked. I told him about RAPT and he let me watch the rest. I phoned him back and now he wants to see this SUPER FRENCH FILM!

A more emotional look at the process of planned kidnappings. I liked how both the kidnappers and Stanislas Graff are both given a fuller portrayal. Most of the real text was subtextual and well-done at that. The ending (as in the whole closing portion of the movie) left me with a similar philosophical openness I felt in We Have a Pope by Nanni Moretti.

Un film à suspense!

Yvan Attal plays a multimillionaire industrialist who runs the business as he wishes, goes with whatever mistresses as he pleases and gambles away money without a care in the world. He is kidnapped for a multimillion dollar ransom, but his industrialist partners find it difficult to gather the ransom amount because of his profligate lifestyle. Will his family and company come up with the ransom or do they even want to? Will he survive and return to his old lifestyle? A nice tight thriller in which the ransom demands are not as simple to gather and deliver as many kidnap movies suggest.

Based on a true 1978 kidnapping per wikipedia. An interesting case study of how the event changed all involved but that's about it.

Interesting idea but the action sequences are very lame compared to Hollywood standard.
