This film has no English subtitles and the spoken language is Mandarin. So pass unless you have the language skill.

A suspenseful action drama with a broad spectrum of characters dealing with their unique circumstances that climaxed during the couple of days before the Hong Kong stock market crashed during the global financially meltdown. Excerpt: In order to meet her sales target, a bank teller turned financial analyst is forced to sell high-risk securities to her customers. A small-time crook delves into the futures index hoping to make easy money to post bail for a friend. And a straight-arrow middle-class police inspector is suddenly desperate for money when his wife puts a down payment on a luxury apartment and his dying father wants him to take care of a young half-sister he never knew he had. All three of these ordinary people, who are in dire need of money, suddenly have something in common when a bag of stolen money lands them in an intricate situation that challenges their moral core. A more detailed write-up is here: (Contrary to Ron@Ottawa's comment it has traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese or English subtitles. I watched it with English subtitle)

Watchable but unsure why the movie won so many awards. There was nothing outstanding about the story or the acting.

The movie consists of 2 main parts: both are about people's greed. Through this movie, you can feel the stress of the people in HK.

Lady: But, if you buy ...
Yuen: 100 online transactions is 32 thousand. That's still less than 40 thousand. Isn't your bank ripping me off?
Lady: But we take care of your investment for you. I could take care of you.
Yuen: Business is all about profits, but you got to play fair. Credit card charges up to 35% interest. ...

Bank lady: You have quite a bit of cash in the account. Ever considered investing them? I have a unit trust to recommend. We have a newly launched fund.
Yuen (customer): Bank charges will rip me off.
Lady: It's only 2%. This unit trust's portfolio is diversified among 20 stocks in BRIC countries.
Yuen: 20 stocks?
Lady: Yes
Yuen: 2% charges? If I invest HK$2 million, the 2% charge is 40,000. If I invest online. Each transaction costs 2 US dollars. 40 dollars for 20 stocks. Right ...or roughly 320 HK dollars.
