In Pittacus Lore's The Rise of Nine, third in the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series, the stakes are higher than ever as John, Six, and Seven try desperately to find the rest of the Garde before it's too late.

The Mogadorians who destroyed the planet Lorien continue to hunt down the Garde, the small group of Loric survivors who have taken refuge on Earth. The Garde must come together. They are Lorien and Earth's only hope.

During the dangerous mission at the Mogadorian base in West Virginia, John found and rescued Nine. But even with their combined powers, special abilities known as Legacies, the pair barely escaped with their lives--and they lost Sam in the process.

In order to save our world and their own, John and Nine must join forces with Six and Seven who have been battling the Mogadorians in Spain, and who are now trying to locate Number Eight in India.

Power in numbers will save us all.

The Rise of Nine was the best book in the I am Number Four series so far in my opinion. It fixes the problem the last book had of one narrator having a more interesting story than the other, while at the same time adding a third narrator. This book has more action sequences than the others so there isn’t as many dull sections as there was in the previous books. Lore brings new characters in with interesting stories of their own that make you care about them, while still adding onto existing characters. Lore also did very well on the ending of the  book, as it was written as well as the rest, but made you want to see what happened next in this story. While this book was an improvement there were still problems, the narrator switching can be confusing as like in the last book it is only a text change. Most characters are developed great, but there are some that I feel could have been developed better. Overall this book is very well done with less problems than the last books, but still has room for improvement.

Probably the best book I've read in a while.

i could read every book in this series over and over

Definitely better than the last book -- more actions and character developments. Recommend to read The Lost Files -- Lost Legacies and The Forgotten Ones. They are side stories happening along side with this and Fall of Five.

I think this book was better than the other books in the series. The only thing I disliked about the book is how the font keeps changing for each character and how it is difficult to know who's perspective is who's at the beginning of a chapter. Otherwise, I liked the book. Also, the cliffhanger wants to make u read the book immediately.

A good read that continues to build up the suspense of the series. Seems to be building into the end of the series, and the characters appear to grow and develop. Looking forward to the next book.

What happened? Pittacus! Did you hire a different writer or something? B/c you were NOT on your game. I will read the next book and hope for the best!

Nine looks over at me and rubs his hands together, all eager anticipation. "Johnny boy, have we discussed how important oral hygiene is to me?" he looks back at Setrakus Ra, "Dude, brush your teeth before you even think about threatening me!" He extends his glowing red staff, turns to Setrakus Ra and charges.

We walk together in silence for a few more minutes, until Eight speaks. 'Do you ever wish the Elders had given us our Inheritance in locked backpacks instead?" He switches his Chest to the other arm.

“Setrakus is more or less invincible. Only Pittacus Lore, the most powerful of all the Lorien Elders, would have been able to defeat him.”
