TOUCH ME I’M SICK!! Mudhoney was one of my favorite local bands. Seems like they played live all the time and they were always good and LOUD live! This DVD covers them from their beginnings onto their success. They never had the commercial success of Nirvana or Pearl Jam, but they toured with both. Dan drummed for Nirvana before they recruited Dave Grohl. I always liked them because they were never pretty, pretentious rockstars—they just made good music. I remember one show in a club when Mark cuts off the song and turns around to Dan (the drummer) and asks him what the heck are you doing? They immediately go back into the song. All the band members are present in the DVD and talking about the band, folk from Sub Pop comment, music writers comment, other musicians also comment including Jeff Ament (Pearl Jam), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth). They talk about the ‘grunge’ movement – ‘”punk is another way to say grunge.” The commercial media embracement of the ‘grunge’ label and the music scene in Seattle at that time. Even onto Mark’s use of heroin when other local musicians are dying from it. They made their music and they survived the era and they even produced this DVD.

Excellent documentary on a band that never got its due.
