In this heartbreaking tale, a resilient young girl struggles as the daughter of an alcoholic father and an absentee mother. Left alone to fend for herself days at a time, she is observed by a kind and compassionate saleswoman at a shopping centre. She begins to retreat every day after school to be with her new companion in order to avoid going 'home'. The saleswoman gains her trust and takes the situation into her own hands by reporting the girl's living conditions to social services. Shadow Girl is a moving but all-to-real story about growing up in a broken home.

Very good book , enjoyed it . The poor girl had such a lousy Dad , but yet she still believed in him , eventhough he did nothing but let her down . A heart warming and uplifing story of perseverance and what caring can do .
