In this series based on the popular crime novels by prolific Norwegian author Unni Lindell, middle-aged detective Cato Isaksen performs superbly at work while his personal life, on a good day, resembles barely-managed chaos. Careening between significant others and keeping up with three young sons by two different mothers, Cato tries his best to do right by all the players. It's a tug between family obligations and his all-consuming job as a homicide detective for the city of Oslo.

A good series! Interesting stories, with lots of surprises! Gritty, at times!

As far as police drama goes, this one is rather boring and tedious. It centers on this one detective's messy home life and any crime investigation is an after thought. There isn't much team work and this Cato Isaksen seems to be doing all the work. There is no urgency in even interviewing all people concerned and worst yet, the favorite phrase is 'leave it for tomorrow'. Norway is in trouble if their police force act like this.
