This one is always great. Brando creates a wonderfully quirky character and of course Jack is great. Supporting cast including Harry Dean Stanton and Fredrick Forest. How could it go wrong. A classic that doesn't fit into the normal classic western mold.

Jack Nicholson and Marlon Brandon play bank robber and bounty hunter in this modern western. Brando gives a strange performance. Not for everyone

Really a scattered, bizarre movie. But it was worth it just see Brando with a randomly applied Irish brogue as a sadistic 'Regulator' who genuinely enjoyed his work, dressed in a granny bonnet, (like some kind of Western Norman Bates out of Psycho), and dropping bugs into the gaping mouth of a sleeping Randy Quaid. Apparently Arthur Penn just gave up trying to direct him (Marlon) and let him do whatever the hell he wanted to do. Jack was Jack; his 'romance' with the cattle baron's daughter was unconvincing and lame. Her indifference and apathetic reaction to Daddy's fate was just plain lousy writing (and acting).

Called by some critics as the worst film ever made by an important director! Bullshit! This is a terrific, quirky, off-beat and violent western with a terrific performance by Nicholson and the usual fantastic show by the great Brando, who gets to kiss his horse and forget that he is taking with an Irish brogue.

Tom Logan: "I couldn't get no credit at the whorehouse, so I picked up this chubby little girl off some sodbuster's outfit." Little Tod: "How was she?" Tom Logan: "About like a Swiss clock... same exact movement over and over again."
