Her soft-spoken sister, Trisha, has created a perfect suburban life, and her ambitious sister, Marin, has built her own successful career. But as these women come together, their various methods of coping with a terrifying history can no longer hold their memories at bay. Buried secrets rise to the surface, and as their father's condition worsens the daughters and their mother wrestle with private hopes for his survival or death, as well as their own demons and buried secrets.

I really enjoyed it, super quick read. However, I'm not sure if it's because the subject matter is one I can't relate to, there was quite a bit of melodrama to it. I'm not sure if this is due to my own limited view and experience with the subject matter, but if that's the case, the context wasn't built up appropriately. I'm not sure if that makes sense...

So many thought provoking concepts in this book, all based around some very sensitive and complex family dynamics. This would make an excellent book club choice. I was just dying to talk to someone about it the whole time I was reading it.

I did like this book even with the perfect ending. When I read the description I thought I was going to be reading about American Indians so that was misleading & disappointing also.
It was written from the point of view of four women who have been affected by the one violent male for most of their lives.
