This volume features the first four odd-numbered issues along with 11-12. The first four chunks are one-shots that focus on each crew member (Rocket and Groot's chapter is shared).

These chapters help fill readers in on what has happened to the Guardians that made them the way they are in the first volume. What is Gamora hiding? Why is Drax suddenly a pacifist? Why is Groot a sapling that cannot grow? You'll find answers here.

The last two chapters further the story and check in on the recently resurrected Nova (Richard Rider). Nova discovers that his brother didn't die along with the rest of the Nova Corps and goes searching for him. The final chapter brings the Guardians to Earth as they search for hints as to where the Infinity Stones may be. It even ends with them getting a new team member!
