Whitelaw has another winner in this third in the Lacey Jordan series. Fast-paced and flighty Jordan is constantly getting in and out of scrapes during her cases with criminals. Luckily, her savior policeman and romantic interest, Detective Inspector James, keeps saving her. Other men such as store mogul, Francis Guilbert, and Mexican restaurant owner, Miguel Cortes are also vying for her attention. The small town of Latching in Sussex introduces other interesting characters such as Mavis, who owns a bistro and Doris, the local grocer. The ending felt a little thrown together, but 98% of the mystery had already been told.
