This one is an outstanding hard boiled private detective story, not part of a series as per usual L. Block books. Fun, short, with some twists and turns that won't totally surprise you but still fun and sometimes dark. I enjoyed the CD thoroughly and was super enhanced by the amazing Alan Sklar, who reads "Grifter's Game" as though he wrote it; there is humor in his voice and he seems born for this story. Get it on CD or download it, trust me.

Could be a really good book, but Laurence Block's reading skills are pitiful.

Interesting premise that turns depressing. Easy to tell this is a 50 year old story. 4 of 10 stars.
