This is fairly typical of Ms McCrumb, by which I mean, quite interesting.
It has a certain style which; that is to say, specific to this author. No climax, just a well told story that keeps the reader involved all the way through and gives one something to think about.

Cool off with a good book! I feel like I just discovered a new novel by John Steinbeck or F. Scott Fitzgerald. It's about secular sainthood. If you know this author, you know the book will be sweet and funny as well as really good.
I'd say it's "The Canterbury Tales" on wheels, but that makes it sound gross. It is about NASCAR racing. which I've heard of but I'm still not 100% certain is really real, anyways it doesn't matter, don't let that put you off. As a fantasy genre novel (just barely), compare it to Guy Gavriel Kay and Charles de Lint. As a modern work of literature, compare to Jane Haddam.
