I'm really enjoying this one so far. Can't put it down, which is unusual for me. Wish my library would get the missing books from this series. Will have to use inter-library loan a lot to get these read.

The writing is great, the story so-so. Suspension of disbelief is critical in a story with magic and winged monsters. There were so many plot points that made me scratch my head, especially as the story wound down. But the action is very well-done. It's like watching a movie with a bad story but terrific music. I think Jack and his friend Abe are great characters. But I absolutely HATED Gia. Please Jack, find a different love interest. If she appears in the continuing stories, it will be like sleeping in a mattress with a pin in the sheets.
