Excellent read. I really enjoyed the variety of the characters, and the fact that the one Christian in this book actually works on being Christ-like. (and yes, that's relevant to the if that's scary, you might want to stay away) Having now read the sequel, this is by far the better of the two books, and the less preachy. The ending of the second one...well, let's say I'm not necessarily going to bother reading the third until I get bored.

i have really become a fan of John Ringo lately. i was never a big fan of his "polseen" (sp, i know) stories, mostly because they seem impossible to know in what order to read them in. this one was a fun book to read for me. it was reminiscent of an old trilogy of novels called "bureau 13" and while not quite the same, it was in the same vein. i loved the main character and the way that she was shown to be very spiritual without pretentiousness. so often people make assumptions that in order to be spiritual, you have to be perfect, Barb (the heroine) is one of the few who really lives her faith and i like to think that there are many more like her in the real world today. i am looking forward to the next book.
