Well, a biotech company trying to create a human ancestor from which to harvest organs for transplant--what could go wrong? Yep, you guessed it, just about everything because we all know by now that you should NOT mess with synthetic proto-mammal production.

Not my usual type of read, but I was interested (as always) by the high ratings given by other readers on this site. It's not great literature, but the writing doesn't offend and the plot is outstandingly page-turning. Recommended for fans of Michael Crichton and early Tom Clancy.

A bit predictable and the violence is way over the top.

A book you will not be able to put down, a terrifying science-fiction thriller that will be inevitably compared to Jurassic Park. Except that Ancestor is more current (jokes about porn-y vampire novels abound), faster (short chapters, and no super-long soliloquies), crazier (1.schizophrenia and 2.sociopathy), and overall, even better.
