A buried Classic John Wayne Western from 1939 has been discovered in the KCLS catalog. The movie is the famous "Stagecoach" staring not only John Wayne, but also Claire Trevor, Thomas Mitchell and one of the best western character actors in Andy Devine. KCLS has only one copy of this great western and it isn't even taken out. Fellow patrons, Stagecoach received 2 Academy awards. Thomas Mitchell was Best Supporting Actor and the film score won as well. Director John Ford filmed the movie in the spectacular Monument Valley in Utah. The stagecoach follows actual stagecoach routes and is a study of the 9 passengers on the stagecoach. It is a thrilling ride due to the fact that they are in Apache territory. This being the 75 Anniversary since its release, we should all be thankful that such a wonderful movie is available. If you haven't seen Stagecoach, then you have missed one of the finest Western movies ever made. As always, I would love to hear your reaction to the movie.
