This novel has everything we've come to expect of a Cornwell novel. Thomas of Hookton is on the trail of the holy grail. HBe is set upon by many enemies --- worst of all, his dark cousin Guy of Vexille --- of that branch of the Vexilles expelled from the south of France for heresy. They are reputed to have taken the grail with them and as a Vexille himself, Thomas the archer, our protagonist and hero is in danger because Guy Vexille is certain Thomas has the grail or at the ery least knows of its whereabouts. Lot's of violence, blood, dismemberment and other goodies including an episode where Thomas comes to attention of the Inquisition. A real page-turner.
